WHEN THE DRUMMERS WERE WOMEN June 7 - 9
Invoking The Sacred Feminine Through Ritual and Rhythm
Omega Institute, Rhinebeck, NY
Throughout the ancient Mediterranean world, the Great Goddess is portrayed with her frame drum, which was traditionally played by priestesses in many of the earliest known religious rites. A powerful trance-inducing instrument, the frame drum is the world’s oldest drum and was played primarily by women with their bare hands.
Layne Redmond offers this drumming workshop especially for women (but also open to men) to explore healing rhythmic practices of the frame drum, drawn from her study of yoga, meditation, Ericksonian hypnosis, and drumming techniques from around the world.
